At the start of this year, I accepted a nomination for a three-year term on the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. I was very excited to be nominated, and after being instated at the January gala, I am now an official member of the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
The Chamber’s mission is to strengthen our community through local businesses. They work hard to provide a welcoming environment for their members including programs and events, a powerful referral group, and educational resources. The Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce has an extensive referral program for member’s businesses, making it extremely beneficial for business owners to become members.
As a member of the Board of Directors, I get to be part of the group that sets policies and approves programs that become the basis for operating the Chamber. We also attend luncheons, mixers, and ribbon cutting ceremonies to support new local businesses and organizations. We have meetings to discuss issues that affect the businesses in Elk Grove, and in certain instances, we make recommendations or choose to support initiatives that affect local businesses.
Kevin Spease, the chair-elect of the board and a good friend of mine, asked me to join. He is a fellow Laguna Sunrise Rotarian, CEO of ISSE Services, and also owns Spease Bees honey company. It was an honor for Kevin to ask me to serve on the board. This year I am serving on two committees, co-chairing the Member Engagement Committee, and serving on the Foundation Committee.
Being a part of the Elk Grove chamber of commerce expands my knowledge of local business here in Elk Grove. It also allows me to foster relationships with business owners and understand the challenges affecting them. Normally, I focus on their pain points surrounding information and document management, but this gives me more context of the full range of problems that business owners are facing today.
It is always my goal to take away stress and mitigate challenges for my customers. Serving on the Board of Directors for the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce will allow me to do this better and be involved in my community. I am excited to see what my term will bring.
If you have any questions about becoming a member of the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce, you can schedule a 10-minute call with me. I would be happy to chat with you.
