Some of you may know that I’m the Vice President of the ARMA chapter board in our Greater Sacramento Capital. Putting together this panel of people who are very knowledgeable about digitizing paper seemed like the perfect timing.
With the shelter-in-place status, many businesses or organizations who may have done a lot of their record keeping and business processes using paper methods are now impacted because people cannot get to their offices and do business as usual. A lot of them are sending someone into the office on a rotating basis to find files that are necessary, then digitize them so that they can then be available via computer.
What I’m doing:
I’m bringing together different subject matter experts to talk about how they’re helping during this crisis in addition to some best practices for when you are scanning your paper files.
- Doc Solid – they help simplify the process of converting files from paper to electronic and are geared towards organizations that already have a document management system and help with organizing files before they are scanned.
- Rip Cord – another scanning company that has robots to assist with the scanning process in removing staples as well as putting things together.
- Information Governance – company led by Chuck Booz, a consultant with vast experience in scanning records as well.
All three of these companies are really going to talk about some things to think about, best practices, and then we’re just going to open it up for people to be able to talk about their issues and ask questions.
InfoCompass is co-hosting this panel with ARMA to bring people together so that we can help each other through this crisis while gathering records managers from all over to discuss these issues and how they are dealing with it.
